KIDS YOGA®
"Kid's Wellbeing"

Kids Yoga®

Kids Yoga (ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) is a non-spiritual, non-religious program that promotes the development of a strong and flexible body, increases balance, mind-body awareness and coordination, improves posture and alignment, reduces stress and anxiety, increases concentration, focus, and attention span.

Kid’s yoga is a delightful blend of movement, mindfulness, and play. It introduces young ones to the ancient practice of yoga in a fun and engaging way. Through a series of poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, story telling and imagination kids not only build physical strength and flexibility but also cultivate emotional balance and focus.

Age-Appropriate Poses:

  • Downward Dog: Kids can stretch their bodies like playful puppies in this classic pose. It strengthens their arms, legs, and core.
  • Tree Pose: Imagine standing tall like a tree! This balancing pose encourages stability and concentration.
  • Butterfly Pose: Flutter those wings! Butterfly Pose opens the hips and promotes flexibility.

Breathing Techniques:

  • Bumblebee Breath: Invite children to buzz like busy bees while taking slow, deep breaths. It calms their minds and soothes any restlessness.
  • Lion’s Breath: Roar like a lion! This fun breath helps release tension and encourages self-expression.

Yoga Games and Activities:

  • Yoga Freeze Dance: Turn up the music and let kids groove. When the music stops, they strike a yoga pose!
  • Yoga Storytime: Combine storytelling with yoga. As you narrate a tale, incorporate relevant poses. For instance, during a jungle adventure, kids can become “Yoga Animals.”

Mindfulness and Relaxation:

  • We teach children to be present in the moment. Encourage them to notice their breath and surroundings.
  • We teach the Cloud Watching relaxation exercise: Lie down, gaze at the sky, and imagine fluffy clouds passing by. Breathe deeply and feel at peace.

“My daughter loves kids’ yoga! She’s more focused and calm after each session.”

  • The Love of dance/movement and learning

For the safety and comfort of all our students, Kinderdance® requires the proper foot and dance/movement attire to be worn during classes. See your teacher for which items are needed for the particular program your child is enrolled in. They will enjoy the classes even more when dressed in attire, ready to jump and move!

A happy child is a Joy to Behold! Anyone who has ever watched a child jump for joy when a parent comes home knows intuitively that small children express their feelings with MOVEMENT as well as words. Movement, music and DANCE can be natural tools for learning. Influential child psychologists and educators like Piaget and Montessori agree that a planned developmental program in MOVEMENT should be part of every child’s education. Since early childhood education is the foundation for higher education, how a child “learns to learn” will have a lasting influence throughout his or her school years. Kinderdance, where children “learn how to learn” when they learn how to DANCE and MOVE!

Children “learn how to learn” while they learn how to dance and move. Our programs teach to the total child which means socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Our programs include educational concepts that are incorporated into each class that build upon their current stage of learning. Numbers, colors, shapes, creative thinking, imagery, language development, social skills, gross and fine motor skills, along with building a child’s sense of self to others are focused on through out the progression of each program.

Your children’s education and welfare are our main priorities
